Sandstone Veneers

Sandstone is one of the most widely used stone materials, being widely available and easy to use for construction purposes. A great variety in sandstone veneer color and texture is available, with banded color variations.  Sandstone can be any color, but most commonly comes in tan, brown, yellow, red, gray and white.  Crystal grains respond to light variation more than other stone types, with increased warmth and deeper hues enhanced at different times of day.

Sandstone has been used for traditional masonry cathedrals, churches, and castles, and plays an important role in the composition of famous historic sites such as Petra in the Middle East, the once-great cliff-hugging cities of the southwestern United States and ancient megalithic archaeological sites in the UK such as Stonehenge and Avebury.

Sandstone provides a timeless look in a wide variety of environments. Sandstone is widely used for external paving and provides excellent slip resistance because of its granular structure - the surface never polishes and a slip resistant surface is continually refreshed. Sandstone typically has a uniform texture and is somewhat soft, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Thanks to its low absorption rate, high compression strength, and pleasing appearance, it is widely used as wall claddings and flooring.
